  • What We Do

At Moth Learning, we offer high-input, low-output courses at the high school level. Our classes require a lower time commitment than traditional classes, as we focus on imparting knowledge while requiring minimal work on the part of the student. This allows students to balance their schedules by allowing them to take additional electives while not taking time away from core classes.

  • How We Do It

We offer weekly online courses with 50-minute meetings. What makes our classes different from typical online classes is how homework and grading are handled. Moth Learning courses are designed to give students knowledge on a topic without an overly demanding workload. This means homework and assignments are kept to a minimum, allowing students to fit extra classes into their busy schedules. As homework is limited, we do not assign grades, giving families the flexibility to evaluate their progress.

  • Why We Do It

Moth Learning was founded by Jill Harper, founder, and college counselor at Simplify Homeschooling. Jill homeschooled her own children and has been teaching homeschoolers in person and on Outschool for over ten years.

As a homeschool counselor, Jill recognizes the need to offer more unique courses taught at a high level for homeschooled teens. These courses are meant to be interesting and engaging while being low output in order to bring balance to a teen’s schedule. Moth Learning is her answer to this need.

  • Homeschool graduates teaching the next generation?

Many of our teachers are homeschool parents or were homeschooled themselves, giving them an understanding of the rigor and challenges of the homeschooling process. This makes them uniquely qualified to teach the next generation of homeschoolers.  All teachers have obtained a bachelor’s degree in their relevant field, and many are working on their masters and/or PhDs. All instructors have undergone a background check.

  • Homeschool teens working for Moth?

Moth Learning believes in teens and their contributions to the learning process. We use teens as TAs and in support positions at Moth. We look forward to working with more homeschooled teens as we grow.
